Shangri-La is a Melbourne-based construction company with approx. 40 staff that have various needs across its internal departments.
Customer needed a platform to consolidate its disparate hybrid cloud system that had data in various locations, was expensive and ultimately time consuming and difficult to control. Wanted to introduce a new software application but were apprehensive about doing it on the existing hosting platform. Customer was hamstrung by delayed responses to support requests.
Introduced Core Desktop (Virtual Desktop) which consolidated all mail into our Exchange system, properly created shared mailboxes, aliases, permissions and migrated all data and applications into the new Core Private Cloud, created security groups, installed new application and delivered new Fibre internet. Created a Virtual Desktop for every user and set daily sync for local CAD files to customer private cloud.
Customer now has tight control over user management, data and application resource usage and cost. Support requests are actioned immediately and performance of all hosted elements – Virtual Desktop, Software Applications, Database, Email, Backup and Security is optimised and delivered faster than ever before.
Core Desktop has made it so easy combine all of our software applications and data into a single virtual desktop. We no longer worry about security, backups, licensing, internet or disaster events.
We can create and remove users quickly as we need every month. The speed and performance is great and the support has been a big improvement.

For two decades, Rubin Partners has been working with individuals, partnerships, joint ventures, companies and trusts throughout Australia and internationally.
Customer was primed to refresh its entire server and software stack. The expense was in excess of 250K. It consisted of very expensive server hardware, storage array, virtualisation software, backup equipment, UPS, Communications equipment which was powered and cooled in a dedicated room at their office. The customer wanted to forego the large capital expense and move the focus away from owning and managing onsite server infrastructure. The customer also required much better access to systems after hours from remote locations
Core Desktop quickly re-created the entire environment in parallel, including all existing Accounting and Financial applications, migrated mail and data, created user accounts, permissions and groups, databases, backup schedule and unique user configurations and cutover the environment from local to hosted in one evening. Symmetrical network links were put in place to provide access to Datacentre-based Private Cloud. All user profiles, files, data, applications were contained in the new customer Private Cloud and delivered as an elastically provisioned Service.
Rubin Partners were able to save hundreds of thousands in capital expenditure, move the risk of infrastructure failure and contingency planning away from the firm and tightly control ongoing costs via a centrally managed and deployed Virtual Desktop. Security, Backup, Retention and Restore of Data, DR and BC all improved to Enterprise-Grade. Costs per month became flat and predictable. Access to systems and applications from remote locations and from home improved significantly.
The team at Core Desktop saved us a massive capital refresh expense and reduced our monthly IT spend. The Virtual Desktop allows us to tightly control ongoing costs and have all areas of our IT managed without risk or failure.

Customer needed a reliable, fast performing cloud platform that was capable of supporting their critical medical applications and databases alongside Microsoft applications and key online Medical services. Additionally, a high value was placed on immediate, round the clock support with fast response times.
Core Desktop introduced a Virtual Desktop with an optimised platform for all critical business applications that were entirely interoperable within the Customer Private Cloud. All services, including Microsoft, Medical, Accounting and Imaging applications were all installed, contained and delivered within each user’s virtual desktop.
A better data and application structure was delivered to the Customer, as was the ability for staff and surgeons to hot desk between offices, consulting suites and operating theatres. Critical applications became extremely stable and optimised for performance. Support requests lessened as a result and support responses were more immediate, even after hours.
Our Doctors and Staff need access to their own specialist applications, data, email and printing in multiple locations, throughout the day.
